The studio

O+M brings together two decorative artists who have spent their careers working independently for homeowners, designers, architects and builders, on everything from a single powder room to restaurant and hotel interiors built out across several locations.

We treat every surface as part of the architecture rather than a coat of paint on top of it. We sample finishes before they go on a wall, work closely with the people designing the space, and carry out the work ourselves.

Claire Ouimet

Claire Ouimet

Artist and Co-founder

Claire brings more than 30 years of experience and a lifelong passion for painting and drawing to her work. Trained in every aspect of decorative painting, she is drawn to taking traditional techniques and materials and reimagining them in fresh, modern and unexpected ways.

Her career has taken her across the United States and around the world: a 15-year relationship with a national retail chain, creating finishes for stores nationwide and in Hawaii, and collaborations with fellow decorative artists on projects in Hong Kong, mainland China, the Middle East and Europe. She has been a member of the International Salon of Decorative Artists since 2005.

For Claire, decorative art is ultimately about connection: sharing her love of painting and craftsmanship while making something distinctive and personal for each client.

Stacie J Meyer

Stacie J Meyer

Artist and Co-founder

Stacie Jaye Meyer is an artist with more than 30 years of experience. Her artistic education includes Otis College of Art and Design and the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, complemented by extensive study of traditional painting techniques. Stacie brings an artist’s eye and a craftsman’s attention to detail to collaborations with designers, architects, and private clients, creating bespoke surfaces that can emulate historic techniques, interpret contemporary design, or transform an interior through color, pattern, texture, and ornament. Her work reflects a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and the belief that the most memorable interiors are those in which artistry and architecture become inseparable. She is also an exhibiting Artist active in Los Angeles.

Working with us

Tell us about the project

Send us the room: what it is, where it is, and roughly when you’d like it done. Photographs, plans, elevations and any reference images all help. If you’re a designer or architect working to a schedule, say so early and we’ll work back from it.

A conversation and a visit

We’ll talk through what the space wants, and visit where we can. Light, scale and how a room is actually used change what a finish should be, and that’s much easier to judge standing in it.

Samples

We make physical samples for every project, so color and texture are decided with the real thing in hand and in your own light. Larger projects may need several rounds; sample boards can be left on site while a decision is made.

On site or in the studio

Most finishes are applied on site. Murals and panels can also be painted on canvas in the studio and installed, which suits tight schedules, occupied homes and work that travels between locations.

Working alongside the trades

We’re used to being one part of a build. We’ll coordinate with your contractor and designer on sequencing, surface preparation and access, and we keep our own dust and mess to a minimum.

Installation and care

We carry out the work ourselves, and we’ll tell you how to look after the finish afterwards: how it cures, how to clean it, and what to do if it’s ever knocked or patched.
